Transferred!

Wow! 2 posts in one week! This one comes via a friend in Lucy's ward, Ashley. She writes:

Just FYI, Sister Harris is being transferred! She is assigned to the Tranquility Park ward in West Omaha! This is her old area....We had a couple of lessons tonight & saw some of her favorite people. She will officially be in her new area tomorrow morning! Sister Jensen is training a brand new sister & Sister Harris is going to Sister Jensen's last area. Kinda cool! So, she has been filling her in on things! I am so sad to see her go! Love that girl so much!

Sister Harris wanted me to send these pictures to you & ask that you post them to her blog. She set a date tonight for Tristan to be baptized on March 8th!

Also - Don't forget to comment in and tell how you are doing in your Book of Mormon Reading.  She is wondering if people are going to finish strong with her in May!

Cross My Heart, Yes I Will

This week was great!!

We had a 7 course meal! It was crazy and SO good! There's this med student at the clinic that the sisters serve at and I guess he used to be a chef, and he made us a 7 course meal. It was only a few companionships of sisters, but it was way fun. I'll have to get some pictures to send next week. Sister Hamilton took a picture of every course.

We went to try teaching this less active member, and we walked up to his house and knocked on the door. It was kind of dark, so the person came to the door, turned on the light, looked through the peep hole on the door and turned the light back off and walked away...it was pretty awkward and funny. We knocked again, and walked down the driveway and turned around to see the curtains shutting. Eek! I guess they weren't ready yet.

We asked our investigator, Tristan to bear his testimony and it was AWESOME. He started off saying, "I believe that this is true", then at the end he paused and said, "I know this is true". The Spirit was so strong. He's getting baptized in March! I'm SO excited for him.

We also met a girl from Cameroon (However you spell that!) She said that we could come back this week and talk to her!

This video is of us with Aaron, who just got baptized. This is what he would say when we asked him to do anything:

It's been a great week! I'm so thankful to be here.

I want to hear how everyone's Book of Mormon reading is going!

How's Your Book of Mormon Challenge Going??

Hey! How's everyone doing?? I hope that everything is going well! I hope that people are still reading the Book of Mormon and are on target to finish by May! It is seriously the best book ever. I know that everyone can come closer to God by reading it. I have definitely felt that as I have studied it more seriously!

So I just wanted to challenge everyone that is doing the Book of Mormon challenge to watch a talk.

It's Elder Holland's talk (so you know it's good...) from October 2009 General Conference called "Safety for the Soul". It's an amazing talk all about the Book of Mormon.

I definitely can't testify as powerfully as Elder Holland can, but I want to add my testimony to his, that the Book of Mormon is true! I know that it is without a doubt in my mind. I have felt the power of the Book of Mormon in my life as I have studied it. I know that anyone who sincerely reads it and prays about it can know that it is true! This book has changed my life. I KNOW that it can change yours.

There is a great promise at the end of the book that says:

"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
Please put this promise to the test! I know that everyone will get an answer that asks. Our answers might not all be the same, there might not be huge displays of fireworks, angels probably won't be singing the hosanna chorus, and chances are you probably won't faint out of pure joy, but you will get an answer.

Darkest Week of the Mission (but in a good way)

Sister Harris with Sister Jensen and Hermana Cline
we got to do some training, and it was great!
Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm!

 Some things about our week:
-On Monday night for our FHE we learned self defense! It was super funny....and I was really really bad at it! But it was still good.
.
-On Tuesday we were at the TC all day. We were on chat in the morning. It was ok. We had a TON of trollers from Romania, of all places. And we talked to a guy from India, and another one from England. Most of our chats weren't so great, and we were almost ready to get off, but then we got a person who was really sincere! He started off kind of rude, but as the conversation progressed and especially as we bore testimony to him he got more and more kind and sincere. Our testimonies are the coolest things ever!!
.
-Thursday was the CRAZIEST day ever! We somehow overbooked ourselves on appointments, so we went on splits. Sister Jensen went with Ashley, and I went with a cute girl that goes to Iowa Western named Nicole. It was way fun and we got a lot done! Ashley and Sister Jensen saw Aaron and taught him, and Nicole and I taught a new investigator, who also goes to Iowa Western. Then we met up at the end and had another lesson with another investigator. It was AWESOME!! haha
.
-I can't remember if I wrote about her before, but we met this woman that had just lost her husband to a long battle with cancer. The first time we met her was on the street and we just started talking to her. We gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and she said that we could stop by again sometime, so we stopped by this week. It was really cool to watch her open up to us again. She was super hesitant when we first saw her, and slowly got more and more open the longer we talked with her. Our lesson ended with her telling us that she really liked talking to us and that she wanted us to come back again soon. We also gave her a Book of Mormon and she said that she would read it. I love watching the Spirit work on people and soften their hearts!
.
-Aaron got baptized on Saturday!! It was so fun! S. Jensen and I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. While we were talking he kept saying, "Cross my heart yes!" every time we said something that he was excited about. Cute kid! It took him forever to get in the water because he kept talking to Chris (the guy that was baptizing him). The whole room could hear everything that he was saying. It was hilarious! Something like, "And then I'm going to my mom's house tonight and I'm going to church tomorrow, where I'll get the Holy Ghost! I have to put my earplugs in before I get baptized, or else I won't be able to hear!" But it went on forever. It was SO funny!

-Just FYI during the Superbowl isn't the greatest to be knocking on doors...We had a few spare minutes, so we knocked on a potential's door and he answered and said, "Uhhh, you guys know it's the Superbowl...right?" It was actually pretty funny, so that's good.
.
-The lights in the gallery of the Trail Center stopped working for like two days, and I ended up giving some tours in the dark. This week will forever be known as the darkest of my mission. haha!
.
I hope everyone is doing well.  Tell everyone I love them!
